'Beasts of the Southern Wild' Star's Sweet Speech

Even if you don't know her name (yet), you can't not love Quvenzhané Wallis after watching this:

At Thursday's Critics Choice Awards, the 9-year-old "Beasts of the Southern Wild" star and best actress Oscar nominee accepted what will likely be her first award of many this season. She read her acceptance speech off her iPhone and was so delightfully earnest that you just wanted to squeeze her.

And then there's this: a photo of Wallis with her fellow best actress nominee, "Amour's" Emmanuelle Riva, at a Film Comment Lunch hosted by the Film Society of Lincoln Center this week. Riva, at 85, is the oldest actress to be nominated for a best actress Oscar. Wallis is the youngest. And there's not even a hint of a diva vibe. Here's hoping it stays that way as awards season rolls on.
