Bikers Stop Traffic for Marriage Proposal

Bikers Stop Traffic for Marriage Proposal (ABC News)

The California highway patrol is investigating after about 100 bikers stopped traffic on a California freeway so that one of them could propose to his girlfriend.

Hector "Tank" Martinez led the bikers down freeway 10 in West Covina last Sunday around 1:30 p.m. In the midst of a group ride, they suddenly all slowed down.

In multiple videos posted to YouTube, Martinez can be seen asking his girlfriend, identified as Paige Fernandez, to hop off the back of his bike as a pink cloud of smoke was released to set the scene. As his fellow bikers crowded around, some popped wheelies and others did doughnuts as traffic came to a standstill.

Fernandez looked shocked when Martinez got down on one knee and popped the question in front of family and friends. She seemed to say yes before he removed her helmet and they kissed.

Kerri Rivas, a spokeswoman for the California Highway Patrol, told ABCNews.com that the highway patrol and district attorney would be looking into the romantic moment.

"There's emergency and nonemergency stops," she said. "They could be charged with impeding traffic, some infractions and some misdemeanors. They will determine what charges should be."
