Calif. Couple Reunited With Lost 'Lobster' Wedding Ring
One man was reunited with his rather unique wedding band a whopping two years after he lost it in the sand while playing football on Ellwood Beach in Santa Barbara, Calif.
"I thought it was somewhere in the Pacific," Greg Lindsay, the owner of the ring, told local affiliate KEYT.
"There's no way, I thought after losing it, there's no way it would come back on shore."
However in an exceptionally shining example of the power of social media, Jenn Birchim, of Goleta, Calif., found what she thought was a bottle cap while wandering the beach on April 6, bent down to pick it up and realized it was actually a wedding ring gleaming in the sunshine.
Once she noticed the odd inscription inside, "My Love, My Life, My Lobster," she realized it was clearly a prized possession someone would be missing and posted a photo of it to Facebook in hopes of finding the owner.
" Let's see if we can find the owner of this wedding band I found today at Ellwood beach in the super low tide," Birchim wrote on her Facebook page. "There is an inscription on the inside 'my love, my life, my lobster'…maybe a lobster fisherman? Pass it along friends! Let's stoke someone out and return it!"

The picture of the ring not only received more than 26,000 shares, but one of those shares happened to be from a coworker of Lindsay's wife, Sarah.
"I was like, 'That's my ring! It's my husband's ring,'" Sarah told the affiliate of seeing the familiar band in her colleague's post. "She showed it to me and sure enough, it was the ring."
The couple, ecstatic about Birchim's amazing discovery, immediately reached out to claim the ring they thought was forever lost.
"[It] Totally restored my faith in humanity," Lindsay said of meeting with Birchim, a complete stranger, on Saturday, to finally bring his ring home where it belonged. "I was like 'Wow, there are still honest, good people out here like Jenn, to be able to do the right thing.' So it was pretty cool."

And as for the unusually romantic "lobster" inscription, the couple explained it was in homage to the classic sitcom "Friends," where Phoebe tells to the rest of the group that apparently "It's a known fact that lobsters fall in love and mate for life."
"One of the episodes was where they talk about Ross and Rachel being each other's lobsters and I looked at her and said, 'Hey you're going to be my lobster,'" Lindsay recalled telling his wife, Sarah. "And that's why she had it inscripted in there."
Whether or not there is any validity to Phoebe's lobster myth, it seems to have proved true in the Lindsay's case. The happy couple is expecting a new baby in August.
