The new “Dancing With the Stars” cast will be revealed next week and it’s so secretive that even pro dancer Cheryl Burke doesn’t know if she’ll be part of the line up yet.
“We don’t know anything for sure,” Burke said today on “GMA LIVE!” “We can’t confirm.”
The two-time champ, who has danced with stars like Emmitt Smith, Drew Lachey and Rob Kardashian, more than likely has a secure spot, but it’s her new celebrity partner she’s anxious about.
“I
just hope I like my partner because you’re either going to love each
other at the end of the day or you’re just going to hate each other,”
she said. “It’s stressful. It’s seven days a week. It’s full on. It’s
eight hours a day.”
Watch the announcement of the all new celebrity cast live on "Good Morning America" Tuesday, Feb. 26 at 7 a.m. ET.
With
season 16 right around the corner, the rumor mill of possible celebrity
contestants has started up again. On “GMA LIVE!,” Lara Spencer said
she’s rooting for fellow “GMA” anchor Sam Champion to compete and suggested he and Burke should be partners.
“We
danced together in Vegas,” Burke said, reminding Champion about a night
out dancing when the two were in Las Vegas to judge the Miss America
pageant. “I took him out on the town and we just danced the night away.
…He’s teachable. … He’s a contender.”
“You did [teach me], but of
course I remember none of them,” Champion said, being bashful about
dancing on the show. “It would ruin a personal friendship. I would be so
bad and Cheryl would hate me.”
“I would help you,” Burke replied. “I’d be your therapist as well as your dance partner!”
(Watch the full clip to see Champion finally take to the studio floor for a dip with Burke, after some coaxing).
Burke
said former Dallas Cowboy star Emmitt Smith, who she won the mirror
ball trophy with in season 3 of the competition and then partnered up
with again in the “All-Star” season, is one of her favorite partners of
all time.
“Emmitt is one of my favorites for sure. He and I had a great time together,” she said.
Smith, a fan favorite, was the first in a long line of athletes (Apolo Anton Ohno, Shawn Johnson and others) to win it all. “I think we should have a show full of athletes. I wonder who to tell,” she joked on “GMA LIVE!” “Brilliant.”
The new season of "Dancing With the Stars" premieres on Monday, March 16 at 8 p.m. ET.
