'Dancing With the Stars' All-Stars Finale: Pro Louis Van Amstel Weighs In

" Dancing With the Stars" pro Louis van Amstel blogs on season 15 of "DWTS." The three-time world dance champion and creator of LaBlast fitness-based dance DVD workouts returns for his eighth season and takes you behind the scenes on the hit ABC show. You can find him on Twitter @LouisvanAmstel.

Another season of " Dancing With the Stars" has come to an end. Can you believe it?

The end of every season of "DWTS" feels so depressing. After getting so attached to your partner and the fellow competitors, when the finale is over, you wonder, now what? It always takes me a few days to recover emotionally before I pick up normal life. (Is that normal?).

This "All-Star" season by far has been the most amazing when it comes to production value, the dance level of the celebrities and the camaraderie among the couples. Everyone was so supportive of one another and we got so much more freedom to create out-of-the-box performances. We all loved the curve balls that were thrown at us because they kept us on our toes, and challenged us creatively.

Because of the Thanksgiving holiday, the entire cast, except for the final three couples, had to do all group rehearsals on Sunday. Even though it was a crazy long day of rehearsal we had so much fun, joking, laughing, and pranking each other all day. I actually can't believe with all that going on we were still able to be productive. Kuddos to Lacey Schwimmer who choreographed the finale group number and kept us all in line when necessary.

During tonight's finale, the two group dances - "Gangnam Style" and "Call Me Maybe" - will be performed again with former competitors Joey Fatone and Kym Johnson replacing finalists Kelly Monaco and Val Chmerkovskiy and Helio Castroneves and Chelsie Hightower and Drew Lachey and Anna Trebunskaya taking the place of Shawn Johnson and Derek Hough and Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani. I have to say seeing Joey and Kym do "Gangnam style" is absolutely hilarious. That routine was made for him. I laughed so hard when I saw it during camera blocking.

Monday Night's Finale

On Monday night's finale show, it was nice to see the finalists pick a dance from earlier in the season to dance it again. There was a clear difference in confidence and dance quality, which is great for you guys at home to see the improvement.

All of the couples' freestyles were so different that it's almost like comparing apples to oranges. Are the judges praising the "less is more" approach or reward the "all out" approach? Are the judges throwing out the ballroom rules or not?

(How exciting was it to see the Fab Five Olympic Gymnasts perform on the "DWTS" stage. Fantastic. Amazing. Brilliant. I hope all five will do next season! Now wouldn't that be something?)

All in all, I think it was a great night of dancing with lots of energy and effort put into the performances. Congratulations to all couples for making the final and deservedly so!

The Final Three

I truly believe Sabrina sh(c)ould (don't you love it how diplomatically I wrote!) have made the final, but I also agree that the three finalists are the right three.

All three women equally deserve to win for different reasons. Shawn Johnson is a power house and the most consistent of them all. Melissa Rycroft is the best dancer and has the most beautiful movements. Kelly Monaco, in my opinion, is the most improved as a dancer and has shown she wants it the most from the get go.

Hopefully you voted for your favorite and they'll take home the trophy. A big congrats to Tony Dovolani, Derek Hough, and Val Chmerkovskiy for taking care of their women and bringing the best out of them.

Instant Dance on Finale Night

Tonight the champions will be revealed after they dance the unpredictable "Instant dance," which is either a Samba, Cha Cha or Jive. No one knows which one they will have until they pull the dance out of a hat at the beginning of the show. It's going to be very interesting!

Also coming up tonight, the eliminated couples will each perform a routine, either an existing dance or a brand new one. Sabrina and I will dance our "Wanted" Rumba, which was so special to both of us. (Hopefully many of you who had no power due to Hurricane Sandy to watch will enjoy this emotional Rumba!) There will also be kids dancing with some of the celebrity couples. These kids are fearless and amazing. You're going to love it.

Thanks to all of you for voting for Sabrina and I this season. Thank you for reading my blogs every week and most all thank you so much for continually watching and keeping "Dancing With the Stars" the No. 1 reality show on primetime television. It's inspiring to us dancing pros and much appreciated!

Love,

Louis
