Disney's Club Penguin 'Coins for Change' Program

There's big news from Disney's Club Penguin, the number one virtual world for kids.

"Good Morning America" teamed up with Disney, ABC News' parent company, for the sixth annual "Coins for Change" program, a massive charity drive going on through Jan. 2.

Currently on track to be the charity drive's most successful year yet, through this program, millions of kids playing around the world are donating the virtual coins they earn while playing games online in Club Penguin to determine where Club Penguin makes its annual $1 million donation.

The virtual donations allow players to choose which real-world cause matters most to them.

The players have three choices to decide where the donations will go: Providing medical help, building safe places and protecting the earth.

And new to this year's "Coins for Change" event is the Club Penguin bake sale, where players can help drive virtual donations for their favorite causes by baking virtual cookies to raise coins for their cause.

Club Penguin has almost 200 million online players and has donated more than $9 million to charities around the world, helping projects such as building 20 schools for more than 20,000 children, building 25 school libraries for more than 50,000 children and creating 33 clean water projects for more than 50,000 children and their families.
