Which Holiday Lights Display Brings the Most Cheer?

We're getting into the holiday spirit with our new series "My Lights Are Better Than Your Lights." Every morning this week on "GMA" we will feature a showdown between two seasonal lights displays from all across the country.

First up is the Schmidt family from Georgetown, Texas, who set their lights display to a Christmas remix.

"This is a family event. From our son to my wife and myself, [even] my 13-year-old has been helping put this together since he was old enough to talk and walk," they told us. "We have over 20,000 lights all synchronized to remixes of our favorite Christmas songs. I tried to create musical mixes that would invoke laughter, tears and childhood memories."

The Schmidts are up against the Hight family from Surprise, Arizona, who say they like to make their house dance with music for the holidays.

"We feature just over 51,000 lights and the entire display is computer animated with 160 independent channels to dance to music," they told us. "Our family designs, builds and programs all of the display and musical elements ourselves. This is our fourth year animating the display and we have grown each year."
