Man Stuck in Chimney Wasn't Santa

ABC News' Salma Touma reports:

The San Francisco Police Department found a 33-year-old man stuck in a chimney and, according to authorities, it wasn't Santa Claus.

People in the city's Pacific Heights neighborhood heard their neighbor screaming for help and notified the San Francisco Police Department Monday evening, said Officer Gordon Shyy.

"A man slipped going up the chimney and got trapped," San Francisco Fire Department spokeswoman Mindy Talmadgi said. "We still don't know why he was there, in the first place."

The man was stuck in the base of the ventilation duct of the building in which he lived, police Sgt. Michael Andraychack said.

It took the rescuers about an hour to free the man, Shyy said. He added that the man wasn't arrested and no charges have been filed against him.

The man was sent to the San Francisco General Hospital and treated for minor cuts and scrapes, Shyy said.
