Middle School Girl Suspended for Dying Hair Red

A 13-year-old girl from South Carolina was suspended by her middle school after she came to class with parts of her hair dyed red.

Hannah Adams received an in-school suspension at Riverside Middle School in Greer because she allegedly violated the school's stated dress code that says "Clothing and/or hair should not disrupt the educational process. … Non-human hair color is not permitted," according to a report by FOX Carolina 21.

The girl's mother believes the language in the policy is vague, said red can be a human hair color, and that others at the school have multi-colored hair, which is unnatural, FOX Carolina also reported.

She told FOX Carolina that the punishment was unfair.

"[The administrators] keep going back to the handbook and going back to the policy and it should be that way across the board or it should not be that way at all," she said.
