Nick Cannon Comes Clean on Kidney Disease

What do you feel about this article?

Nick Cannon Back at Work, Talks Health ScareNick Cannon has come clean on what really happened when he was hospitalized earlier this month with "mild kidney failure," as his wife Mariah Carey put it.

"They thought it was kidney stones … then a kidney infection," Cannon said on his New York-based 92.3 NOW radio show. "They found out my kidneys weren't functioning well." He added, "We didn't want to say 'kidney failure' so people would think I gotta get new kidneys and Gary Coleman and all that stuff, so we said 'mild kidney failure.' "

Now he's drinking a lot of water and has a "couple more procedures" to go through. "Overall, I'm good," he said. "I'm feeling 100 percent."

Cannon was chatting with his soon-to-be "America's Got Talent" cohort Howard Stern, who also broadcasted the conversation to his SiriusXM listeners. Stern made Cannon get candid about his pop star wife.

"Especially though this entire process, we've become so much closer," he said. "I even got a chance to see a different side of my wife where she became so nurturing. I'm in debt to her forever."

Cannon was initially hospitalized in Aspen, Colo., on Jan. 4. He was later moved to a Los Angeles hospital.

So, this is hardly "coming clean" if that is what the headline writer thought. This is no more revealing about what was and is wrong with him than before.

      I agree! Dumb headline.

i agree. it's ok that we don't know exactly what's wrong with him, but it's not ok to lure us to an article in such a deceiving way.

I've had kidney stones 4 times in my life. Believe me. It's the most pain I have ever experienced. I wouldn't wish them on my worst enemy.

I thought this story was going to explain WHY he was in the hospital, and what the actual diagnosis is/was?!? This is what irritates me with Yahoo! news. They sensationalize headlines to capture eyeballs. I seriously need to find another source for news/sports/etc. This seems to be the norm nowadays. LAMERSVILLE!!!

"Comes Clean" on KIDNEY DISEASE? I thought he "Came Clean" for something like drugs, crimes, or something evil. What a misleading headline.

George, if you're going to be sensitive, don't be a azze about it too. The headline was designed to make the reader expect some sort of revelation just to draw us in. They duped us big time. Race had nothing to do with this until you brought it up.

It took him getting kidney stones for his wife to become nurturing? What about their two babies? Is it just up to the nanny?

He saw a "nurturing side" of Myriah? One would think he saw that long ago when the babies were born.....am I missing something?

What the hell is mild kidney failure....my mommy died from kidney disease and my father is on dialysis and needs a new kidney. When I was back and forth to the VA with him, kidney failure is a slow process. What his doctor explained to me is that at some point you are going to need a transplant. They don't wait for your kidneys to fail all the way before they put you on dialysis its when you at 90% failure is when they start. There isn't a cure to reverse it, but you can slow the process, so I hope he follows his doctors orders.

Having lost a spouse to Kidney Disease - I can say it is very real. If he has progressively worsening kidney function and has for years - it will eventually be less than 10% ( E.S.R.D. ) - and he will need a transplant or dialysis. A Doc can literally chart the progression over time usually - and give a patient a general time frame of how long until dialysis ( End Stage Renal Dysfunction ) so perhaps it will be many years. People can be on dialysis for years - but it takes a toll on general health. Transplants aren't perfect - because you are immunocompromised and opportunistic cancers - illnesses etc.. can then take hold. If it is progressive - he is in for a long arduous fight for his life. My prayer is a long healthy life - as he is a new dad.

I would put money on it that Nick get his new Kidneys before that poverty stricken little 6 year old gets his. Make me sick, but Nick could pay cash for the operation, and welfare would be paying for the child's operation, but wait oh yeah the welfare denied him his transplant. A hard rain is a gonna fall.
