Randy Travis Arrested for Public Intoxication

Country singer Randy Travis, 52, has apologized for what ABC News Radio confirmed was an arrest early Monday morning for public intoxication.

“I apologize for what resulted following an evening of celebrating the Super Bowl,” Travis said in a statement released through a publicist. ”I’m committed to being responsible and accountable, and apologize for my actions.”

The six-time Grammy winner reportedly had an open bottle of wine with him outside a church in Sanger, Texas, when police  apprehended him at approximately 1:30 a.m.  Sanger is located about an hour north of Dallas and is close to  the Tioga, Texas, ranch Travis owns.

The "Forever and Ever, Amen" singer was booked at the Denton County Jail on the misdemeanor charge and released later in the morning.

In addition to his Grammy awards, Travis has won more than a dozen combined awards from the Country Music Awards and the Academy of Country Music.  His most recent album was last year's gospel collection, "Blessed Assurance."
