Record Set for World's Oldest Siblings

A pair of British sisters have set the Guinness World Record for being the world's oldest siblings.

According to Guinness, Dorothy Richards, 108 and her sister Marjorie Ruddle, 105, have a combined age of 213 years and three months. And counting.

They celebrated their achievement on June 8 with a tea party in the nursing home where Ruddle now lives. Richards lives in a nearby retirement home.

"Really, all we wanted was to get the two of them together," Pat Comber, Ruddle's daughter, said, according to a statement from Guinness. "They haven't seen each other for three years because my mother has a slight disability and my aunt is quite frail."

They both attended college in London as young women, but returned home to Northampton to take care of the household when their mother died.

Later, they both married.

Ruddle married Dr. James Robertson Wills in 1932, and had three children with him. Five years after Wills died, she married Allan Ruddle.

Her sister married an optician, and they had three sons.
