Hanks, who signed off on the video with a simple, "Hanx," used just old-fashioned masking tape to fasten the Emmy on his ride, as documented in a picture tweeted by his wife, actress Rita Wilson.

The 56-year-old star, who won in the Outstanding Miniseries or TV Movie category for "Game Change," attended the ceremony with Wilson, who also had bit of fun at the expense of their fancy Emmys ride.

"I think @tomhanks and I will make out in the backseat of this car on the way to the Emmys," she tweeted, along with a pic of the smiling couple, earlier in the evening.

Wilson also helped provide her nearly 180,000 Twitter  followers with the whole Emmy experience, live-tweeting from behind the scenes and asking people what Emmy secrets and stars they wanted to see.

"I will tweet as long as battery lasts on iPhone," she wrote. "What do you want to see? Can't guarantee will get tho."
