William and Kate Lookalikes Cause Frenzy Outside Hospital

Prince William and Kate Middleton lookalikes showed up today at St. Mary's Hospital in London, where Kate is expected to give birth, sending the hordes of media camped out in front of the hospital and the Internet into a false-alarm frenzy.

Bystanders and media outside the Lindo Wing of the hospital were stunned when a large black car with dark windows pulled up in front of the hospital. The driver got out and then a Prince William lookalike stepped out of the car. On the other side, the Kate Middleton lookalike ducked out with the driver/security guard close behind.

The "couple" was moved up the stairs of the hospital and a crowd quickly mobilized, rushing towards the entrance. "Kate" and "William" paused at the door, fiddled with their clothing and turned around to reveal t-shirts bearing the logo for the British newspaper The Sun and block letters that said, "No. 1 for royal baby news."

A barrage of tweets saying that Kate had arrived at the hospital quickly turned into reactions about the prank.

Some loved it, calling it a "great stunt" and some much-needed "comic relief," while others were less impressed, calling it an "appalling stunt" and saying that people were too on-edge for the mischief to be acceptable.

Royal baby watch is in full swing and royal watchers are growing increasingly impatient. Observers believe the baby could come any day now because it is believed that Kate Middleton's due date is some time in mid-July.
