Greg Kelly, Police Commissioner's Son and TV Anchorman, Won't Face Charges Over Rape Claim

A New York prosecutor considering rape allegations against Greg Kelly, a Fox TV local morning anchor who is the son of the city's police commissioner, has decided not to bring charges in the case.

Kelly's lawyer, Andrew Lankler, met this evening with the lead prosecutor, the head of the Manhattan district attorney's sex crime unit, according to sources, and left with a letter informing him that, following the investigation, it was determined the allegations against Kelly did not meet the standard of criminal prosecution and no charges would be brought.

Kelly had taken time off from his job while the office of Manhattan District Attorney's Cyrus R. Vance Jr. investigated a New York woman's rape allegations made last month.

Give us the details if you want comments.

Thomas M, the prese just puts out information and the comments really don't mean a thing, the press want the public to be information forced or stupid which ever you would like it to imply. Just like the stuff with the prez, it is what the press wants us to see so that it makes him look good., whether it be true or not.

Well, as you can see by the comments, obviously most don't want or need details before they are ready to string a man up.
    • ministerzel 3 months ago
I agree that the details are missing so it is hard to comment or assume that he is getting special treatment due to his father's position.

PS...Robert...what in the world does this situation - a rape allegation/investigation - have to do with Presidental press releases? Sure, all Presidents want to be seen in the best light. Of course. But, please...everything is not about Pres. Obama. Frankly, that line of thinking is what gets old to me.

Well, this article is not exactly chuck-full of facts! If you dig a little further into this matter, you will see it's a complicated mess. Keep in mind that Kelly is a local celebrity. While I'm not taking sides, the alleged victim met with Kelly at the South Street seaport last October for drinks and then the two went back to her law office. Supposedly, bone-dancing of some form took place. She claims she became pregnant ... but terminated the pregnancy. Following the rape ... or romantic interlude ... she allegedly texted Kelly asking him why he had not called her. Even stranger, her "boyfriend" emerges from all of this and confronted the NY City Police Commissioner ... Kelly's father ... claiming that she has become an "emotional cripple". Was he her boyfriend back in October, I wonder? So there you have it, friends. Oh what a tangled web we weave ...

Well, you certainly have provided more information than this stupid article. Not being from New York, I haven't been following this story. Anybody like me would be led to believe that it was a case of favoritism. From what you have posted, it isn't.

I think that if it is the media policy to not report the names of rape victims, It should also be policy to not report people accused of rape until they are found guilty. The stigma of being accused of a rape will linger forever. It was obvious that he was innocent and that this was some sort of scheme from the very beginning. He now has to live with this ridiculous accusation the rest of his life.

You are an idiot. They are not the same, there was evidence in those cases, and two were found guilty.

And this is considered journalism? It happened three months ago, and the reporter still does not present the facts, even after the police investigation was closed? I've seen better articles from a high school newspaper.
If this reporter got a paycheck this week, they sure as hell didn't earn it.

Journalism is dead in America. Everything now is either politically driven or just out and out propaganda.

And the decision not to bring charges was today therefore it's news.
    • Demiurge 3 months ago
Yes, the "victim" waited FOUR MONTHS before reporting the "rape".

Want to bet she got pregnant and her boyfriend found out about it? Otherwise, why wait FOUR MONTHS to report a crime.

She should be brought up on charges - she's destroying someone's career just to save herself embarrassment.

Before you all comment...this has been picked apart since October 2011. He meets someone on the street, they have drinks (she has a boyfriend btw), she takes him back to the office where she works (or worked !), they have sex...four months later..she files a police report..the drama: he raped her, he impregnated her, she had an abortion...can you say 'opportunist'....? They looked at emails and texts and cell calls-interviewed extensively both of them...I really believe he did nothing more than what guys do and what women do-takes two to 'tango'......

Isn't it great that they're still not reporting her name, even though this was a blantant sham of a case. I'm no fan of Greg Kelly, but I feel that his reputation has somewhat been tarnished by some loose piece of trash, who only brought this up when she was found out by that cuckold of a boyfriend. Rape is a very serious thing, but it's people like her, who diminish the seriousness of a true attack.

Taurus and Ted---are you cops protecting each other??
    • John 3 months ago
Jack not sure what YOUR agenda is here but you are way off. The facts referred to by Taurus have been widely reported in the media, just conveniently left out of this article. Greg Kelly works for FOX (conservative bias), and Good Morning America (a major competitor and liberal bias) posted this article and conveniently left out the important details that explain to any person with common sense why this case could not be tried.

She got caught and figured out the only way out of it was to cry rape. She certainly had a lot of time to report it months ago but only decides to do it 3 months later - there is something very wrong with this woman and she should be counter-sued by Greg Kelly for false accusation and for wasting the city's time and resources. LET'S have the city grow a "set of balls" and set an example with this woman to show her she can't get away with it!

That's the media for you, jumping to conclusions before a complete investigation is concluded and all the while steering the public to convict an innocent man. The best example is with these comments below.

Everyone here knows at least ONE female capable of making such a false allegation in an attempt to get money. You know your best friends crazy cousin or who ever, don't lie. Rape is serious and as a former officer I saw a multitutde of false claims. Jilted lovers, angry at spouse, explaning an impossible pregnancy, etc. The lies have become a serious problem.

The ONLY reason this made GMA and Yahoo is to give as little information as possible and to be able to have a headline intimating police corruption. News media are the prostitutes of the web.....

If she made it up she should go to prison for the same number of years he would have. And why dont they now show her picture and name.

Typical idiot trolls thinking he got away with something because of his father.

How about you actually get some facts. Like she texted him before AND after the "attack".

She got caught by her boyfriend and cried raped. She should be brought up on charges.

Sad that a woman can just randomly say "I was raped" at anytime without any proof and just drag a man's name in the mud. Men... be very careful who you sleep with.
