Adorable Seal Pup Born at Brookfield Zoo

As the world welcomed 2014 with fireworks and celebrations, a seal pup made history at the Brookfield Zoo near Chicago. A grey seal pup was born there around 7 a.m. Wednesday, making him the first of its species to ever be born at the zoo.  The pup, which weighed more than 25 pounds at birth, was born with long white fur that will soon be molted and replaced by shorter hair that resembles his mom, 10-year-old Lily, according to the zoo.  The pup, who has not been named, and Lily are currently out of public view while they bond, but seal pup fanatics can watch the pup grow on the zoo’s website and Facebook page.  Click through to see the first pics of the new pup and his mom.
