Baby Aardvark Born at Brookfield Zoo

Marking the start of quite a baby album, the Brookfield Zoo released the first photos of its newest addition, a baby aardvark. The still-unnamed baby was born Jan. 12, weighed 4.5 pounds and is the first aardvark born at the Chicago-area zoo in a decade, according to the zoo. Its mother, Jessi, and its father, Hoover, were on loan to the zoo as part of a breeding program. The aardvark now weighs a healthy 13 pounds but will continue to receive around-the-clock care from zookeepers for a few more months before going on display. In the meantime, the zoo says it will soon have a webcam available for viewing, and there are these adorable photos.
