Forget Princesses: Mom Photographs Daughter as Iconic Women

Jaime Moore, a photographer and mother from Austin, Texas, wanted to mark her daughter’s fifth birthday with some special new portraits. But when she began searching for inspiration, Moore noticed a pattern of young girls dressing up only as princesses. “It got me thinking, they’re just characters … an unrealistic fantasy for most girls,” she wrote on her blog. Instead, Moore decided to break the mold, dressing up her daughter, Emma, as real women she wanted her to learn about and look up to for inspiration. “My daughter wasn’t born into royalty, but she was born into a country where she can now vote, become a doctor, a pilot, an astronaut, or even President if she wants and that’s what REALLY matters,” Moore wrote. The mother-daughter duo chose five amazing, strong women, including Amelia Earhart and Coco Chanel, to personify in the portraits to “show our girls the REAL women they can be.” RELATED: Photographer's Portraits of His Daughter as Classic Paintings
