'Cakes' Star Offers Shunned Couple Cake

Lesbian Couple Denied Wedding Cake Accept Celebrity Baker's Offer (ABC News)

Duff Goldman, star of the Food Network show "Ace of Cakes," has offered to make a lesbian couple their dream wedding cake free of charge after an Oregon bakery denied their order.

"I said, 'Hey I can fix this problem. Somebody was a jerk to them and I can bake them a cake. That's what I can do,'" Goldman told ABCNews.com.

The brides-to-be went to Sweet Cakes, a Gresham, Ore., bakery Jan. 17 to order their wedding cake, but were told the bakery didn't serve same-sex marriages.

Aaron Klein, who owns Sweet Cakes with his wife, Melissa, told ABC News affiliate KATU-TV he was living in accordance with his religious beliefs when he refused to make the couple a wedding cake.

"I honestly did not mean to hurt anybody, didn't mean to make anybody upset, [it's] just something I believe in very strongly," he said.

One of the women filed a complaint Jan. 28 with the Oregon Department of Justice, which is looking into the allegation.

Goldman, 38, hasn't heard yet whether the brides-to-be will take him up on his offer, but if they do, the Baltimore baker promises to personally deliver it to them in Oregon.

"I want to give them a big hug and say congratulations," he said. "It involves cake, it involves love, marriage, all things I'm a big fan of."
