Beyonce Opens Up About Love, Loss in New HBO Documentary

ABC News' Taylor Behrendt and Linsey Davis report:

Viewers saw a new side of pop superstar Beyonce in her new documentary, "Life Is But a Dream."

The film, which premiered Saturday night on HBO, touches on Beyonce's life up close and personal, including her love and admiration for her husband, rapper and entrepreneur Jay-Z; the firing of her father from his post as her manager; and Blue Ivy, her daughter with Jay-Z.

The film contains video of a young Beyonce singing with her sisters as well as interviews of the grown-up, independent woman and raw video of her performances. She also shares moments from her pregnancy - including her 60-pound weight gain - and carries the sonogram of Blue Ivy, who is now 13 months old.

In an interview on the OWN Network that aired Saturday before the debut of the documentary, Beyonce, 31, discussed her excitement about the project.

When Winfrey asked Beyonce whether she was afraid of overexposing herself in the film, she said: "Yes. I battled with the edit and in the end I just jumped. In the end I am no different than any other woman."

Beyonce also talked to Winfrey up about the miscarriage she suffered before becoming pregnant with Blue Ivy.

She said she had gone in for a check-up and there was "no heart beat."

Winfrey asked her why she chose to share that in the film.
