Cindy Crawford Stops 10-Year-Old Daughter's Modeling Career

Cindy Crawford has put her 10-year-old daughter's budding fashion career on hold despite the girl's  recent success in modeling.

Kaia Gerber, the daughter of Crawford and Rande Gerber, posed last month in the first children's modeling campaign for the Versace fashion house, which just opened a store in Milan.

But Crawford announced to "The Daily" that her daughter won't be appearing in any more campaigns for the next seven years: "At this point, she's too young to pursue a career.  There aren't even a handful of jobs for a 10-year-old girl."

She does give Kaia the green light to follow in her footsteps later on in life: "But if she's 17 and wants to try it, of course, what can I say?"

Not much, considering Crawford was discovered at 16 years old.  Kaia's father, Rande Gerber, was also a model.

Crawford's strict stance may come as a surprise after she described her daughter's modeling as a "fantastic experience" and said in a campaign press release:  "I'm so thrilled that Kaia was chosen to be part of the first Young Versace Campaign. … I have so many fond memories of the times I spent with Gianni and Donatella."

Many people recognized Kaia's striking resemblance to her mother and she received praise from Donatella Versace.

"Like her mother," Versace said, "Kaia has a very special gift. The camera really, really loves her."
