Desiree Hartsock, who was sent home on season 17 of "The Bachelor," is the new star of "The Bachelorette," show host Chris Harrison announced Monday night.
Giudici accepted the proposal, and the pair said they'll marry soon. The wedding will be aired this summer on ABC, Harrison, who hosts "The Bachelor" and "The Bachelorette," said.
Hartsock, a bridal stylist from Northglenn, Colo., was eliminated in the eighth week of "The Bachelor." She was among 26 women vying to win Lowe's heart, and made it to the final four women in the running, but she was sent packing after Lowe's meeting with her family went wrong.
Hartsock's brother accused Lowe of being a playboy and of not returning his sister's feelings. Lowe denied the accusation.
Hartsock, who had been a fan favorite, told Harrison that she was grateful for the opportunity to find love, and believed in the process of finding it on the show.
Twenty-five men will compete for her hand when the new season of "The Bachelorette" debuts May 20.
"I know that it can happen and one of them will be hopefully my true love, as cliché as it sounds," she said.
