“After 14 years in the NFL, I have decided to retire,” Driver tweeted. “It’s been an amazing journey, thank you for all of your love and support! #Packer4Life"
Driver has had quite a successful career both on the football field as well as the dance floor. He’s a member of the Packers’ 2011 Super Bowl championship team, and also won the 2012 “DWTS” season finale alongside professional partner Peta Murgatroyd.
“GMA” anchor Josh Elliott was surprised by the news, but wished him the best of luck with his future.
“When I was a young reporter at Sports Illustrated, one of the first stories I ever did, I had to go write a story about one of his teammates,” said Elliott on “GMA LIVE!.” “He was a rookie. He was terrific then, and stayed terrific. A wonderful human being. Donald seriously, best of luck.”
“He’s one of the nicest people,” Lara Spencer added.
