ABC News' Taylor Behrendt and Will Ganss report:
Alex Barnett worked in Afghanistan for the pasts two years, and has since made the move to New York. Kiki Jimenez is a student at Fordham University.
What they have in common is they were both ambushed by "Good Morning America" and treated to a style makeover.
Barnett was ambushed where she works at Sunshine Sachs, a public relations firm in Manhattan.
The 30-year-old had spent two years working at a nonprofit in Afghanistan, and when she got back she moved to New York. Amelia Gingold, her coworker, said she thinks Barnett is "experiencing the style shock a little bit … I would love to see some heels, and some color."
Barnett did indeed get color, in the form of a pink jacket over a sequined shirt, when her new look was revealed today on "GMA."
"You can wear it to the office and then head out at night with those fabulous heels," said "GMA" and Marshalls' style expert Alison Deyette, who took both Barnett and Jimenez shopping, where they looked at lots of prints, patterns, colors and styles.
"You just want to show that, hey, I've moved back to New York City. Everyone get to know me," she said.
"I love it," Barnett said.
Jimenez, 22, was ambushed by "GMA" while she was on the street. She thought she was going to meet a friend for coffee.
Jimenez, who's active on campus, graduates in a few months. She got help to make the transition from co-ed gear to professional wear.
"We wanted to make her career-ready and give her a look that really lands the job when she gets the interview," Deyette said. "I was showing her you don't have to pay full price to get top designer brands."
Jimenez's attire of mixed prints and patterns, including a skirt and yellow purse, gave her the confidence she needed.
"I feel great," she said. "I'm ready for that interview and nailing that job. [I'm] ready to go."
Jimenez and Barnett also got a visit from the "GMA" glam squad, members of "GMA" anchors Robin Roberts and Lara Spencer's hair and makeup teams who gave them the royal treatment.
