Amanda Bynes was arraigned and released in New York City on Friday morning, just hours after being arrested for tampering with physical evidence, reckless endangerment and criminal possession of marijuana. Despite appearing in court and arrest photos wearing a long blonde wig, the former child star is shown in her mugshot sporting a very short hairdo.
Bynes, 27, was arrested on Thursday evening. According to NYPD spokesman Det. Brian Sessa, police responded to a 911 call about a woman smoking marijuana in her apartment building lobby, and when they arrived, they were led to Bynes's residence.
"There was a heavy smell of marijuana," he continued. "[Then] she took the bong and threw it out the window."
However, in court, Bynes's lawyer, Andrew Friedman, said his client denies throwing a bong out of her window. "There was nothing recovered from the sidewalk," he added. "Clearly a search was made for the bag."
Friedman also said that police followed Bynes into her apartment illegally. (Sessa told ABC News that she let them inside.)
The next court date for Bynes has been set for July 9.
