The blink-and-you-miss-it marriage between Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries lasted only 72 days. But their headline-making divorce may just last forever.
(In case you blinked, after dating for six months the couple was married Aug. 20, 2011, at a private estate in Montecito, Calif. The wedding was estimated to have cost at least half a million dollars, but it turned out to be considerably less for the couple considering the bride's free $20,000 Vera Wang wedding gown and a lucrative deal with E! Entertainment that broadcast the wedding in a, not one, but two-part TV special.)
While it seems like a lifetime since the tabloid-favorite couple split, it's been only one year actually since the day reality star Kardashian filed for divorce from her NBA star ex-beau last Oct. 31.
And what a year it has been. Take a look back at the headlines Kardashian and Humphries have made since going their own separate ways. Nobody said they would go quietly.
After dismissing rumors of marital woes while the newlyweds appeared together on her family's E! reality show, Kardashian released a statement on Halloween day confirming that she's divorcing her NBA player husband of 72 days.
"After careful consideration, I have decided to end my marriage," Kardashian said. "I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision. I had hoped this marriage was forever, but sometimes things don't work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best."
Her soon-to-be-ex's reply?
"I love my wife and am devastated to learn she filed for divorce," Humphries said in a statement of his own. "I'm committed to this marriage and everything this covenant represents. I'm willing to do whatever it takes to make it work."
Kardashian lawyered-up to take on not just Humphries but naysayers who argued her fairy-tale wedding was done just for publicity, specifically going after former publicist Jonathan Jaxson, according to the website TMZ.com.
Humphries took legal action too, against Kardashian, when he responded to his wife's divorce filing by filing for an annulment of their marriage in Los Angeles Superior Court, citing "fraud" as the reason.
Humphries made his first public comments since the divorce blindside, appearing with his mom on "Good Morning America" but saying only "You've got to move forward" and "That's life" about the split.
Kardashian, for her part, moved on as a single woman, appearing in her family's famously over-the-top Christmas card, a 3-D version for 2011, standing alone and dressed in black tie.
Could it all have been staged? Yes, said the website Reality Tea, which dug into a scene from one of the Kardas hian clan's E! reality shows, "Kourtney and Kim Take New York," in which Kim Kardashian confides to her mom about her new marriage. The scene was purportedly taped in Dubai in October, right around the divorce filing, but the website discovered that the outfits Kardashian and her mom wear in the scene were the same outfits they're wearing in a paparazzi photo of them leaving a Los Angeles studio in December. In the scene, Kardashian says, "I don't know, I'm just like learning a lot of things about him that I didn't really know before, and, I don't know, married life just isn't what I thought it would be with him."
A representative for E! did not respond to ABCNews.com's requests for comment at the time.
Humphries gets a pep talk from then New York Knicks star Jeremy Lin after being booed incessantly at NBA games in the fallout from his marriage.
"He just said, 'Hey, I don't know why they boo you, but I think it's crap, and you're playing really well,'" Humphries told ESPN Radio. "I love the hostile environment. There's nothing better than sending 19,000 people home upset [Monday] night at the [Madison Square] Garden."
Kardashian and sisters Kourtney and Khloe are hit with a $5 million lawsuit over their endorsement of QuickTrim diet pills. The plaintiffs claimed the Kardashian trio and the makers of QuickTrim were "false, misleading, and unsubstantiated" in their weight loss claims.

Humphries is not forgotten, however, thanks to Kanye's song, "Theraflu," in which he sings, "I admit I fell in love with Kim ... 'Round the same time she fell in love with him ... That's cool, babygirl, do your thing ... Lucky I ain't had Jay drop him from the team."
"Jay" would be West's pal Jay-Z, an owner of Humphries' NBA team, the Brooklyn Nets.
It was West, also a fashion designer, walking the red carpet in May at the A-list Met Costume Institute Gala in New York City. But Kardashian was nowhere to be seen, reportedly off the guest list at the order of Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, the evening's host. Kardashian instead tweeted from a photo shoot with her sisters for their Sears clothing line, which a source told Radar Online was her way of justifying her absence.
"Kim and her camp will deny that she wasn't invited by saying that she had business in L.A., but that is a lie," the unidentified source told the gossip website. "She would [have] done anything to be there with all the A-listers."
Kardashian gets the Oprah treatment, telling the talk show legend in a two-part OWN special with the entire Kardashian family that she went into a "deep depression" after her short-lived marriage but still thinks Humphries is a "good person" but "just wasn't for me."
Meanwhile, Kardashian also makes headlines on Twitter, only this time she has nothing to do with it. A picture of a naked look-alike nibbling on fruit from a room service trolley in a fancy hotel room got the Twitter-verse all atwitter after the photo was allegedly shared by her new love West on his Twitter account before being quickly taken down. That sparked rumors it was an accident and had caused friction between the newly enamored couple. Alas, they had nothing to do with it. After first reporting that West was behind the stunt, TMZ later clarified that it was "part of #WanksterWednesday, a prank day where people try to get bogus rumors started."
Humphries scores a big comeback, signing a reported two-yeartweeting, "I'm up at Brooklyn! @S_C_ "lucky I didn't have Jay drop me from the team" lol!." @S_C_ being Jay-Z's twitter account name., $24 million deal with the Brooklyn Nets. After putting his John Hancock on the deal, Humphries sealed it publicly with a zinger to Kanye and Kim,
That same month, however, Humphries was reported by the New York Post to have demanded a paternity test after his Kim Kardashian look-alike new girlfriend, Myla Sinanaj, claimed she was three months pregnant.
Both stars were in the headlines this month when court proceedings showed just how nasty their divorce had become. An attorney for Humphries told Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Stephen Moloney that it would be at least four months before he could be ready for trial and described Kardashian's side as "not making the process easier."
Why a four-month delay? Humphries' team is collecting evidence from companies that produce Kardashian's reality shows in an effort to prove the couple's 72-day marriage was a fraud, including possibly depositions from Kardashian's beau, Kanye West, and mom, Kris Jenner.

Kardashian channeled Darryl Hannah a la Splash and the 1980s for her Halloween costume, donning a reported $2,000 blonde wig and fishtailed mermaid outfit at the Midori Halloween party in New York City.
"My life has definitely changed a lot in the last year," Kardashian told Us Weekly at the party, at which she appeared alongside West. "Change is different if you're not used to it, but I think my life has changed for the better and I've become better."
Humphries is also making a fresh start in the Big Apple, leasing an $8,000-a-month luxury apartment in Manhattan's Battery Park neighborhood, according to TMZ.
