Martin Scorsese's "Hugo" was the surprise leader with 11 nods, including Best Picture and Best Director. "The Artist," "The Descendants," "The Help," "Moneyball," "Midnight in Paris," "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close," "The Tree of Life," and "War Horse" also received Best Picture nods.
