7-Year-Old Artist Yung Lenox Draws Epic Music Album Covers

For Yung Lenox, hip-hop is music to his ears. When the 7-year-old, who is a natural born artist, got tired of drawing superheroes, his dad, Skip Buringrud, 31, of Seattle, jokingly suggested he draw rapper Gucci Mane instead. “He obviously didn’t know who he was,” Buringrud told GoodMorningAmerica.com. “I pulled up a picture on the screen and he drew him. I posted it and people thought it was super funny, so I started picking album covers that he could draw and it just took off.” Lenox’s artwork of iconic album covers such as Dr. Dre’s “The Chronic,” Prince’s “Purple Rain” and Black Sabbath’s “Master of Reality,” have found a fan base. He even has his own art show, “Parental Advisory,” currently open at Alive and Well, a skateboard shop that hosts artists in Seattle.

The rising star says he likes “the coloring” and doesn’t always plan to stick to music-related art. “Probably I would go for the superheroes again,” he said.  His dad says they’re playing this talent by ear. “If he ever gets not into it or thinks it’s dumb we’ll stop,” said Buringrud. “This stuff is just for fun, the icing on the cake.”
