Artists Turn Food Into Dreamlike, Delectable World

Husband-wife duo Pierre Javelle, 43, and Akiko Ido, 41, are trying to take miniature food photography to the next level. “At first we wanted to create the food photography out of ordinary,”  Ido said. “The idea of using these small people in the food world to tell their stories came quite naturally.” Based in Paris, the couple turns a pile of peanuts into an art gallery, eggs into a tennis court and donuts into a golf course. The series name “Minimiam” is a mix of the words mini and “miam,” which means “yummy” in French. Ido said the elaborate miniature food photography invites viewers to look at things, “carefully, with respect and with attention.” Click here to see more of the Minimiam series.
