What if you could see the unnatural ingredients in your food? Blue chicken caught your eye, right? That’s exactly the effect fine arts photographer Lawrie Brown wanted in her latest exhibit of eye-catching food photos. After becoming interested in artificial colors and other additives in food, Brown wanted to bring attention to the issue by painting meals in colors as outlandish as the unnatural ingredients. “I decided to use primary colors so it was whimsical but also a little disgusting,” she said. “I wanted to keep it really simple and I wanted to make them look like a manufacturer would do and look really appealing.” These photos, which really do look like marketing mock-ups gone wrong, will certainly make you look twice.
