Man Builds Epic Light-Up Ice Fort in Backyard for Party

This dad takes the cake for throwing the coolest, pun totally intended, party on the block. Chris Marchand, 39, from Ontario, Canada, decided to build an awesome 5-foot-tall ice fort in his backyard to help combat his “sedentary desk job” as a newspaper editor by doing “something that keeps [him] somewhat in shape and stress free” during the winter months. “I just wanted something that was practical that I could have a party in,” Marchand told GoodMorningAmerica.com of his colorful light-up ice fort. “Right from the get-go I was going to make something I could share with other people, and make it big enough to have a lot of people in.” It took one month for Marchand to freeze about 300 to 400 ice blocks, dye them with food coloring and assemble them into the castle-like structure. He didn’t even mind the freezing -25 degrees Celsius temperatures, calling the extreme cold outside “just a beautiful place to be.”
