Petunia the Jack Russell Poodle, also known as a Jack-A-Poo, is way more hardcore than you. On May 19, the pup is biking more than 4,000 miles cross-country with her human owner, Jamie Bassell, from their home in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, all the way to Astoria, Oregon, as part of the Adventure Cycling Association's TransAmerica Route, and raising money for Alzheimer’s research on the way. The biking buds will document their entire cycling and camping adventure for their fans to follow along. “She’s been traveling with me for the last year and half,” Bassell, 27, told of her pedal-to-the-metal pup. “She’s such a sweet, awesome, mellow dog.” Don’t you worry about Petunia’s safety; the pooch sports a helmet, “doggles,” aka dog goggles and she’s strapped in with two seatbelts, Bassell said. Every time they hit the open road, Bassell added, “She’s got this little grin. You know dogs love to stick their heads out of car windows, and this is just even better.”
