    • Drunk driver gets unusual jail sentence as a reminder of woman he killed

A Texas man who cut short the life of an “extraordinary” woman in a drunken driving crash will be reminded of his crime by sitting in a jail cell on the anniversary of her death for the next nine years. Travis Elwell, 23, of Mesquite, was sentenced last week to serve 120 days in jail for the 2015 death of Emily Javadi, 34, who was killed while loading items into her car after a workout at Dallas’ Cole Park. Elwell, who had a blood alcohol content of 0.175 at the time, more than twice the legal limit, was speeding when his BMW crashed into Javadi’s Lexus, sending her into a metal pole. As part of a plea deal arranged by Javadi’s parents and prosecutors, Elwell will also serve one week in jail on the anniversary of Javadi’s death on Feb. 10, 2015, for the next nine years, WFAA reports.

    • Sad boy's attempt at hooking up reminds us to text carefully

Pro tip: If you're going to text your bro about going to a girl's dorm to hook up, triple check to make sure you're not sending that text to the girl you think you're hooking up with instead. Chances are, that hook up will be null and void. This guy learned the hard way when he made his intentions very, very clear to his buddy, but problem is, it wasn't his buddy who saw his plan.  SEE ALSO: Twitter's new anti-abuse measure stops notifications for threads started by people you've blocked Twitter user tired girl posted these texts between her and a guy she goes to school with:  pic.twitter.com/YuiCja8J9L — tired girl (@killermarecat) February 20, 2017 K, so this starts off pretty innocent. Although you begin to get a feel for his intentions with the "Can I come over?" text, he's offering to bring her chocolate, which seems nice and thoughtful. Then...   Image: tired girl/Twitter WOAH THERE OMG. Clearly, this was not meant for her eyes. Otherwise, they have an extremely interesting arrangement that we would love to investigate further. After the guy tries to salvage any of the dignity he has left, the girl quickly shuts him down after realizing his end game. And what better way to shame a shady guy than to expose him on Twitter.  He didn't seem to like this kind of attention because he followed up with:  @killermarecat pic.twitter.com/WzravkYb8Z — tired girl (@killermarecat) February 20, 2017 Guys on Twitter didn't take the hint that this is no way to woo a lady because they, too, got creepy and the girl started receiving these messages in her DMs: :| pic.twitter.com/8ufGRgQrse — tired girl (@killermarecat) February 22, 2017 @ these guys: how in the world did you see this as an invitation to hit on this girl IN HER DMs? Did you not just learn from these awkward texts? C'mon, do better. So remember: Be careful of who you're texting, or you'll be exposed on Twitter. You'll need more than chocolate to win someone's heart. And maybe never use the phrase "BALLS DEEP BRO" if you ever want to get laid again. Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa want to set the record straight on what really happens between the sheets. Less than two weeks after Ripa claimed her husband is “mean” after sex, she revisited the topic on Wednesday during “Live with Kelly.” “I’m sorry, I was joking, this is a funny, irreverent show, I didn’t realize it would become trending news,” said the 46-year-old host. • 500 inches and counting: Snow has clobbered California ski resorts this winter

The snow amounts in California’s Sierra Nevada mountain range this winter are difficult to wrap your head around. In many cases topping 500 inches, they are some of the highest totals in memory. At the Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows resort, seven feet fell in just the past week. The snow is so high that it buried chairlifts and ski patrol shacks. The resort has received 565 inches (47 feet) this season, including a 45-year record of 282 inches in January. On Thursday, it announced that its ski area would remain open through July 4. Since 1962, it will mark just the fourth instance of Independence Day skiing (the other years were 1998, 1999, and 2011), according to a resort spokesperson. Other ski

While Chip was wowing our group with paint strokes and his precision in spray painting chairs, Joanna was behind the scenes personally delivering copies of the new Magnolia Journal magazine to our seats with hand written notes that read, “So nice to meet you!” Watching her in action, both of them for that matter, seemed genuine and heartfelt, like they truly felt blessed to be in their situation. The cheerful space (a bit cramped as they can’t keep up with how quickly the company is growing) has a vintage Pac Man video game for employees courtesy of Chip, inspiration boards on the walls, a large decorative iron sculpture given to Chip and Joanna by their favorite metalworker, Jimmy Don, and a magnolia key presented to them by the city of Waco.
